Issue
When anonymous users access SharePoint sites with ShortPoint web parts, contents within connected Design Elements do not load or are not visible to them.
In the past, we have offered support for anonymous user access in our app, allowing users to access certain features without requiring authentication. This decision was made to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience. However, as technology and security landscapes continue to evolve, we have had to reevaluate this approach.
Reason
ShortPoint has stopped support for Anonymous Users and therefore accessing contents within a connected ShortPoint Design Element is a known limitation.
Our primary goal is to provide you with a secure, efficient, and feature-rich solution. With the latest advancements in SharePoint and industry best practices, we have encountered several limitations and challenges when maintaining support for anonymous user access. These limitations are starting to impede our ability to introduce new features and ensure the ongoing security of your data and your users' data.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that Microsoft has also deprecated support for anonymous access in the newest SharePoint versions, aligning with its commitment to enhancing security and data protection.
In light of these considerations, we believe that discontinuing support for anonymous user access is the best way forward for our app. This change will allow us to focus on delivering a more robust, secure, and feature-rich product. We understand the importance of user accessibility and will continue to prioritize authentication and permissions to ensure the right users have access to the right content within your SharePoint environment.
We remain committed to your satisfaction, and this decision reflects our dedication to providing you with the most up-to-date and secure solution. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team. We will be happy to discuss the transition and its implications in greater detail.
