Prerequisites
- You have ShortPoint SPFx version 8.x.xx or later installed on your Microsoft 365 SharePoint site. This feature is not available for SharePoint 2019 and SharePoint 2016/2013 On-premises environment.
- You have appropriate permissions (typically Global Admin permissions) to upload an SPFx package to your SharePoint tenant's App Catalog. You must also have permissions to manage API Access. If you don't have these permissions, you can forward this guide to someone who does.
- You are a ShortPoint Designer with an active license.

Step-by-step Tutorial
The process of enabling Microsoft Graph API connections in your SharePoint sites consists of 3 parts. Follow each part closely.
Part 1: Install the ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy app
The ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy SPFx app is an integral part in enabling Microsoft Graph API connections in SharePoint. Do the following steps to install it:
Step 1: Download the SPFx package
- Go to the Microsoft Graph API integration page
- Click Download
Step 2: Navigate to the SharePoint App Catalog
Open your SharePoint tenant's App Catalog to upload the SPFx package.
- Launch the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Select SharePoint Admin
- Choose to show More Features
- Under Apps, click the Open button
Step 3: Upload the package
Upload the SPFx package file to the SharePoint App Catalog.
- Press the Upload button
- Select the SPFx package you downloaded
Step 4: Enable the App
- A side panel will appear. Scroll down to see two options for enabling the app:
- If you want all your SharePoint designers to have access to the web part automatically, you can choose Enable this app and add it to all sites.
- If you prefer to let individual site owners control app installation, select Only enable this app.
- Choose the option that best matches your needs and click Enable app.
Step 5: Approve permission requests
You will be asked to go to the API access page to approve permission requests for Microsoft APIs. You can choose to approve either all requested permissions or only the specific ones you need. You can always return to the API access page later to approve additional permissions.
- Click the Go to API access page button.
- Select a permission request under Pending requests.
- Hit Approve.
- Review the details of the request. Check that you are approving the correct request for the ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy package.
- Click Approve to confirm.
- Repeat the same review and approval process for any remaining permission requests.
Additional Step for Site Owners: Installing the ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy app on a Site
When Only enable this app is selected, site owners must add the ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy app individually to their sites. Here are the steps to follow:
- Go to Site Contents
- Select to add New App, and
- Add the ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy app
The ShortPoint - Azure AD Services Proxy app is now enabled on your SharePoint App Catalog and your Site Collection. You can now proceed to the next part.
Part 2: Establish the Microsoft Graph Integration
We can now set up the Microsoft Graph integration with ShortPoint by following these steps:
Step 1: Go to the ShortPoint Dashboard
- Hover over the ShortPoint icon on your Command bar
- Select Dashboard
Step 2: Open Integrations
- Click the Integrations tile
Step 3: Connect to Microsoft Graph
- Press the Connect button under Microsoft Graph to start the integration
- Sign in using your credentials or select an account that's already logged in
- Scroll down and click the Accept button to grant all required permissions
After completing these steps, you'll return to the Integrations page. You'll know the integration was successful when the Connect button under Microsoft Graph changes to Reconnect.
Congratulations! You have successfully enabled the Microsoft Graph API connection on your SharePoint site. You'll know it's working when you see Microsoft Graph API connection options available in the Connect tab.
